Wonwood Barton is a stunning countryside wedding venue located a few miles out of Tavistock, Devon, on the edge of Dartmoor. It is an old farmstead and is so charming. Wonwood offers a gorgeous outside ceremony area, plenty of outdoor space (with room for a marquee!) and a few lovely brick stable-like buildings surrounding a courtyard. The views across the valley towards Cornwall are stunning,
I have photographed a few weddings at Wonwood Barton now and do so love returning. I do a little “yay!” when I see it mentioned in an enquiry.
I’ve experienced Wonwood in nice weather, in on-and-off showers, in literal torrential rain and in a heatwave – therefore I can literally confirm that no matter the weather, it’s still gorgeous to be there!
~ See here for Jem & Laurie’s wedding at Wonwood Barton, with a windy ceremony and wild party! ~
Please see below for photos throughout a few of my favourite weddings there.

Bridal prep is usually done in the Coach Barn (from what I’ve experienced) and it’s a lovely start to the day. You can peek at the guests while you finish getting ready, too!

Outdoor ceremonies here are GORGEOUS. Look at that view! And even if it’s windy and raining, it’s still atmospheric and gorgeous. It’s a beautiful and touching place for a ceremony.

But yes, this is Devon – nice weather is not guaranteed, as you can see above! But no worries – the Corner Bar area is a good indoor alternative – they can even take off the barn doors to fit more people outside (but still under cover).

This area is also a good indoor-backup for group photos!

And a rare one!
Too many guests for the Corner Bar. Unexpected relentless rain. A marquee set up for the reception…
so Tabs & Will had their beautiful ceremony in the marquee!
It was super cute actually, with guests sat around the round tables. Very wholesome!

The courtyard is so lovely on its own, you don’t even need to decorate if you don’t want to. A good place for the ‘everyone’ group shot, as I can get height on those stairs!

The round house can be used for a lovely bar/lounge area, kids area, or if you don’t have the marquee, a reception area. It works well with long tables or circular ones, as seen below.

With the valley backdrop, long grass at the far end, lovely lanes and the fields around make for perfect photos. How many venues have such a lovely surrounding area?!

Wonwood’s marquee is just marvellous – super high ceiling, clear sides and plenty of room for a dancefloor!. I’ve even seen it withstand SUPER crazy winds and rain! There are plenty of options for how you set up, too – I’ve seen the top table at the far end or on the right hand side with the valley behind you.

In summary, Wonwood Barton is a joy to photograph at and I hope also a joy to get married at. It’s a very DIY venue but not much is needed in the way of decorating as it’s so naturally beautiful. I hope to photograph many more weddings at Wonwood Barton in years to come!
