Bradstone Manor is a gorgeous rustic wedding venue located about 9 miles from Tavistock, Devon. It’s a really special venue, is family-run, and welcomes you right in. It offers a blend of natural beauty and timeless country living, with its stunning gardens and courtyard, gatehouse and indoor barn areas.

Romilly and her family make you feel like family when you’re at Bradstone. They truly go the extra mile – moving fire pits, keeping things on time, assisting with whatever they can – even walking a restless baby’s pram up and down to settle it so the parents could eat! Romilly and her husband are on-hand to assist, and their (teen/adult) kids and niece/nephews doing the bar, rearranging tables etc.
Whenever I get an enquiry for here, I’m so happy as it’s forever a joy to return here! It’s such a welcoming place.
The stunning hillside backdrop and beautiful buildings make it a perfect choice for creating unforgettable memories.
See below for some of my photos from this beautiful venue!

The wedding morning prep area is in the house – you’d have the lounge and dining room. These look out onto the walled garden and gatehouse, so if you’re having an outdoor ceremony here, you can see sneakily your guests arrive!
The room is set up with large plush sofas, coffee tables, the wooden panelling adds to the charm and feel of the place. It’s decorated beautifully and feels timeless!

The walled garden and gatehouse area are SO stunning as the backdrop to a wedding ceremony! Oh my gosh. Truly beautiful!
I have only had the chance to do one outdoor ceremony here (thanks, rain!) and they chose to have it in the garden, not by the gatehouse (but next to it). The couple loved the beautifully yellow-leaved tree, and preferred to have that behind their aisle instead of the spectacular gatehouse building.

(rainy day backup)
A great rainy-day backup for your ceremony is in the downstairs of the barn, also known as the Games Room. If it’s not raining sideways, the barn doors all along the building can be opened to let in natural light (which is sooo helpful for your photographer!)

This courtyard is definitely one of the best I’ve seen. It’s open and spacious, right beside the beautiful barn, and it has some covered areas along one side for in case it starts to rain (and let’s be honest, it’s a possibility no matter the date of your wedding, isn’t it?!)
The fairy lights add a celebratory feel to the space, as does the fun bar in the form of a Shepard’s Hut! In the evening, if you have the fire place lit, it’s so cute and cosy.

It’s also lovely for the confetti toss!

And ideal group photos! It’s ideal, as people are nearby but not in the way, and they can all hear us if their name is called. Then to get a group photo of everyone, I can take it from upstairs in the barn through the door/balcony thing 🥳

The courtyard is also fab for mingling and drinking, and for kids to have freedom too.

When it’s not a backup ceremony space, the downstairs of the barn – the Games Room – is used for, you guessed it, games! It’s also a good cocktail hour alternative, in case it’s raining and or too chilly to be outside.

Then in the evening – party! If you don’t want to have the upstairs of the barn turned around from your meal for your partying, or you’d like to have a party that spills to the outdoor courtyard, downstairs is perfect for you.

This place – WOW! Right?!
Perfect for a banquet style celebration. The fairy lights in the rafters are so gorgeous and add a touch of magic to your evening.
This space is accessible via stairs from downstairs/the courtyard, or you can walk around to the upstairs barn doors. This option is better for those with mobility issues, but there’s still a few steps to get into the barn.
Plus if it’s lovely and sunny, you can have the barn doors open 🥳

This room, next to the main room of the barn, is perfect to relax in while the main room is being changed over, or in between courses. It has a wood-burning fire and is so cosy!

The surrounding gardens and lanes are so gorgeous. Ideal for group photos and couple photos!
Right across the lane from the main room of the barn is the parking and camping area – yes, your guests can camp out after the celebrations if they wish! (However, Romilly of Bradstone has recommendations of local BnBs etc)
There are some lovely trees in this area which are perfect for cute couple photos too.

To summarise – Bradstone is a very special place. It’s personal, intimate, and natural. It’s very DIY so you can customise it however you want (even a Lord Of The Rings theme 😉) and it is one of my favourite wedding venues.
Here’s to many more celebrations at this special place!
